Baby Cloth Diapers In Everyday Test

The following article is a guest contribution by Regina. She has tested overnight diapers for baby in everyday life.

The most basic accessory to the baby – the diaper. For most, the only question is the question of which brand you choose, or which supermarket you buy best. A further option often remains on the line: washing or throwing away? Fabric or plastic?

The fabric twins in their modern version do not have to hide behind their one-time sister. I wanted to know if the only alternative to the garbage was actually a laundry chaos; and I started the self-test on the baby after reading the first reading.

Most of the people who want to inform themselves about the topic of fabric winds are at first, as I still undecided what is to be wrapped in the end. With mediocre-conscious ecological awareness, I wanted to try not to triple my household waste with disposable diapers. But for some, the winding with fabric can also be interesting in financial terms, and at the latest in the topic of skin compatibility one comes around the fabric diapers sometimes no longer around.

When thinking about using fabric winds to wrap them and reusing them after washing, there were laundry pens in front of my inner eye, and I remembered stories that were told of “earlier” than when diapers really needed to be cooked All evening long.

How environmentally friendly can winding still be when the washing machine is running? Compared to the garbage, which causes the throw-away diapers, this is difficult to answer.

Startled, I read that a child after 2.5 years, about 1 ton of diaper waste produced. This would correspond to 5 meters high mountain diaper from which some components need 500 years to degrade. The manufacturer does not know how much energy is needed to manufacture each new disposable diaper.

In the best case, for example, a fabric diaper is made from certified organic cotton (organic). It usually fits from birth to dry and can also be used for sibling children further.

Starting from a winding period of 3 years I buy diapers for example Aldi worth about 840 euros, and in any child again.

Depending on the winding system you get a complete set of cloth diapers new already for 160 euros. The average price segment is around 280 euros. If you want to spend a lot of money and invest in large sets of the well-known manufacturers, you still pay only half compared to the disposable nappy. If you buy the diapers used, it is correspondingly cheaper.

In addition to the ecological and economic arguments for the fabric diapers, some parents describe that the fabric diaper was the last way out in the case of particularly delicate skin of the baby, since all disposable diapers caused sores and eruptions. Others are convinced that their children were rather dry because they were wrapped with fabric. Last but not least, it is mentioned that there are fabric winds, which simply look incredibly chic at baby’s back.

The decision to give the fabric winds a chance was made for us. Now I was faced with a whole series of fundamental questions. I had been able to observe the use of disposable diapers often enough, but I had to admit that I had never seen everyday life with fabric twins. After initial research on the Internet, I quickly realized that wrapping with fabric winds does not have to mean folding mink diapers in Origami style, fixing them with safety needles and putting them in rubber pants.

Ultimately, someone in a forum contributed to the point: a diaper has two functions. It should absorb moisture and not give it to the clothes. Accordingly, each diaper-also the disposable diaper-basically consists of two components. On the child a layer that sucks and then a water-repellent layer. One could therefore theoretically also knot the newcomer around the Po and tie it with a plastic bag – but it is also more elegant.

The different winding techniques differ in how to attach the two components to the child. The different manufacturers compete mainly in the form of the fit and the materials used.

There is a wide range of different diaper systems, winding techniques, manufacturers and even different versions of a fabric diaper.

For which technology one should decide and which manufacturer produces the favourite diaper is ultimately taste.

Tip: It makes sense, for example, to obtain different systems and products on Ebay and they just try, instead of buying a starter pack of an expensive brand manufacturers for 400 euros.
